Attachmate Security Options

With Attachmate's security options, you can:

Replace nonsecure Telnet and FTP

Traditional Telnet and FTP protocols send data, including user names and passwords, in the clear. Additionally, it can be risky to expose Telnet and FTP ports through a firewall. With Attachmate's security options, traditional Telnet and FTP clients and servers can be replaced with reliable and encrypted alternatives.

Build encrypted tunnels for non-secure applications

An encrypted tunnel makes it possible for data to travel safely from point A to point B without being hijacked. Our security options let IT organizations build encrypted tunnels when and where they need them. In this way, they can secure their non-secure TCP/IP-based applications, without ever touching the applications themselves.

FIPS 140-2 and DOD PKI validations

Protect sensitive file transfers

Using the strong authentication and encryption methods built into our products, IT experts can effectively safeguard private data traveling over untrusted TCP/IP networks. They can also use our message-checking capabilities to ensure that data has not been tampered with.

Maintain system compatibility with security standards

Attachmate provides full support for security standards that are used across IBM, UNIX, Linux, OpenVMS, and Windows platforms. These include SSL/TLS, SSH, and Kerberos. There’s no substitute for the flexibility and ease of use provided by these standards.

Leverage existing authentication and authorization methods

Attachmate solutions work with an array of authentication and authorization methods, so you can easily pair them with your existing security framework. To verify user or system identity—and block access to private files or systems through nefarious means—Attachmate supports Kerberos, PKI, LDAP, smart cards, Active Directory, and portals.

Safeguard remote access to enterprise applications

Our patent-pending Secure Token Authorization (STA) feature ensures that remote users can access only approved host applications. STA works with our management server to establish user rights, and then issues digitally signed tokens on demand. No configuration by the user is required.

Secure remote administration of critical servers

Attachmate provides remote administration of critical servers with the robust Secure Shell protocol suite, which includes SSH, SFTP, and SCP. Secure Shell clients and servers use strong authentication and encryption methods to shield data from spies, hackers, and other security threats.

Simplify password management, and cut help desk calls

Our single sign-on options give users a convenient alternative to managing multiple host IDs and passwords. Rather than memorizing passwords or using yellow-sticky reminders, users can access all approved hosts and servers with just one password. This saves users’ time and eases the burden on help desk staff.
